Benchmark Micronised Lupins
Highly digestible, high protein and fibre topper for any equine diet.
Micronised Lupins - Lupins are a valuable source of protein and fibre that can enhance a horse’s daily ration. Low in starch and sugar, Benchmark Micronised Lupins are best fed in conjunction with a balanced ration to boost protein and energy levels and to help support all bodily functions, including muscle development, topline and recovery after strenuous exercise.
Protein measurement tips.
Protein content on feed bags is usually displayed as a percentage per kg of feed.
Benchmark Micronised Lupins contain 33% protein.
A useful way to interpret this value is to treat the percentage number as grams per kg. In this instance 33% means that there are 333gms of protein in every kilogram of Benchmark Micronised Lupins, or 33gms in every 100gms.
Therefore, if you add 400gms of Benchmark Micronised Lupin Topper to a ration it will contribute 132gms (33 x 4) of protein.
Feeding Guide:
Benchmark Micronized Lupins are a nutritional tool that will boost protein levels in a ration.
Depending on size, age, workload, lactation, growth stage etc., horses require between 600gs and 1300gs of good quality protein per day.
The feeding rate of Benchmark Micronised Lupins should not exceed 400gms per 100kg liveweight per day. When fed as part of a balanced ration it is important that you consider the protein contribution and feeding rate from all components of the ration, including pasture and supplementary fibre.
Care should be taken not to exceed recommended daily protein intake.
Benchmark Micronised Lupins are ready to feed straight from the bag. No soaking or crushing is required.
Micronisation – Maximising nutrient value and digestibility
The micronising process dramatically improves digestibility and nutrient utilisation in a horse’s small intestine, while preserving the nutritional integrity of the lupin. Micronisation is a short time, high temperature, patented process using infra-red energy to gelatinise the starches, eliminate any anti-nutritional factors, and lock in the nutrient value of the lupin.
