Dunstan Breed & Grow is a low glycaemic breeding feed formulated for pregnant and lactating mares and foals through to two year olds. The quality fibre inclusion in Dunstan Breed & Grow provides a lower GI index compared to conventional grain-based young horse feeds. This helps to minimise the negative effect of insulin on joint and cartilage development. The inclusion of quality fibre sources also helps to ensure good digestive health. Dunstan Breed and Grow contains a comprehensive vitamin and mineral profile including a live yeast culture, Mannan Oligosaccharide and Aluminosilicate Clay.
Ingredients:
Lucerne Meal, Meadow Hay Chaff, Wheat By-Product, Soya Hulls, Soyabean Meal, Barley, Limestone (for Calcium), Dicalcium Phosphate, Organic Glycinate Trace Minerals, Selenium Yeast, Levucell Yeast Culture, Amino Acids, Vitamins, Vegetable Oil, Molasses, Salt, Mannan Oligosaccharide, Aluminosilicate Clay.
Typical Analysis per Kg Dry Matter:
Crude Protein = 16.5% Minimum
Fibre = 10.0% Maximum
Fat= 6.0% Maximum
Salt= 1.5% Maximum DE Energy 13.0 MJ/Kg
Feeding Recommendations:
(Amounts per horse per day when offered as the full feed)
Weanling (April-October) = 3-4kg / day
Yearling (November - February) = 4-6kg / day
Pregnant Mare = 2-4kg / day
Lactating Mare = 3-5kg / day
The above figures are guidelines only. Feed amounts will vary depending on pasture availability and body condition. Horses are very much individuals with different metabolic efficiencies, some requiring a little more, others a little less, for the same level of growth or activity.
For good doing mares in their last trimester, feed Dunstan Pasture Plus concentrate as a replacement for Dunstan Breed & Grow to ensure adequate mineral intake.
Should pasture growth be of exceptional quality due to enhanced seasonal conditions, or an animal be growing at a greater than average rate due to natural variation in metabolic efficiency between individuals, then feeding rates may need to be adjusted to avoid excessive growth rate which may negatively influence joint soundness. In such cases consult with the Dunstan Nutrition Advisory Service. Dunstan Fibre Balancer may be an appropriate product to feed under such circumstances.
